Alsford Timber have begun to implement many significant upgrades to its already modern commercial fleet.

Eleven new vehicles have been ordered for delivery in 2015, these range from 12 Tonne to 26 Tonne GVW. The 12 Tonne trucks mark a significant increase in capacity from the traditional 7.5 Tonne that is currently being used. This increase in capacity reflects on the growth of market share that is being achieved by many of our branches.

We have chosen DAF Trucks as our preferred supplier. DAF are the market leaders within the merchant sector, and all vehicles that are supplied to Alsford Timber are designed with the environment in mind; they run the most fuel efficient and low emission engines available.  In order to improve our operations further, these vehicles have been combined with Fassi Lorry Loader Cranes, supplied by Walker Crane Services.  In our opinion, Fassi have truly exceptional safety features ensuring a safer environment for our staff.  As a result we see Fassi as our crane of choice going forward.

All new vehicles joining the fleet have been carefully inspected and specified by the Alsford Logistics Team to ensure that they meet and exceed the requirements set by FORS, CLOCS and Cross Rail. Vehicles are fitted with extra mirrors, proximity sensors, CCTV, audible alarms and signage to help improve the safety of other road users, particularly the growing number of cyclists.

Alsford Timber is focused on providing the safest, yet most efficient service possible. To ensure that this can be provided, all driving staff are subject to extra training, which they are assessed upon on a regular basis.

This transport replacement program will be part of a continual review which will keep Alsford Timber at the forefront of Transport innovation.

Transport Compliance Manager, Adam Drury commented;

“We are committed to creating a Transport and Logistics service which will be unrivalled in our sector of operations. To this end we have invested heavily in a new fleet which incorporates all available safety innovations, we are also dedicating a significant amount of time and effort in driver training to ensure the professionalism of our staff matches the quality of our vehicles.”

In an exciting move, Alsford Timber has decided to name the new vehicles in order to raise money for a fantastic cause – Macmillan Cancer Care.  A raffle will run from Monday 6th July to October 23rd and is open to all Alsford staff and customers.

Each date a new vehicle arrives at Head Office a draw will take place of all the names entered into the raffle. The lucky name will be immediately printed onto both doors of one of the brand new fleet.
