Macmillan Cancer Support helps improve the lives of people living with cancer, their family and friends by providing practical, medical and financial support.
Gemma Crabb from Macmillan’s fundraising team said: “With over two and a half million people living with cancer in the UK today, the demand for Macmillan services has never been higher. We want to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone, and that is why the support of partners such as Alsford Timber Ltd is vital.
Our team are passionate about helping good causes and all of our members of staff are proactive in supporting Macmillan. All of our branches took part in the Macmillan Coffee morning and at our Head Office in Erith we hosted the Mammoth Quiz, both of which were huge successes!
Across our branch network we also have Macmillan collection containers and with every purchase our customers are given the opportunity to round up their purchases up to the nearest pound with the difference going to the charity. To date we have managed to raise over £13,000 and we will continue to add to this.
This money we have raised can keep typical Macmillan information and support centre stocked with all the information and resources it needs to support people affected by cancer for over 4 years! These resources include booklets, guides, directories and leaflets. Providing the right information and support can make a real difference to a person’s quality of life. It can improve their physical and mental health, financial situation and ability to manage living with cancer.
